Context

In 2014, Xtratelecom began designing its first IP-MPLS network to modernize its infrastructure.

Satec stands out for its technological independence, relationships with partners, and innovative approach, competing with ZTE, Huawei and Cisco.

However, it was not until 2016, after the acquisition of Xtratelecom by Masmovil, that the company truly launched the project with a vision for accelerated growth and a scalable network. A new tender was issued, and Satec, with its proposal based on Juniper technology, was awarded the contract for 2.5 million euros, taking on the deployment of the MPLS network and customer migration.

Masmóvil grows exponentially, and the project evolves with changes in the deployment strategy. Satec transitioned from relying on a single company to working with multiple partners and local technicians to improve response times. This model is key during the COVID-19 pandemic, enabling efficient and decentralized operations.

MásMóvil Context

Challenge

The need for a robust, scalable infrastructure capable of supporting continuous growth has required innovative solutions and detailed strategic planning. Some of the challenges faced during the process included:

Design from scratch

Everything was defined from scratch, from link topology to protocols and services, ensuring an efficient and scalable infrastructure that would allow the company to adapt to its new reality.

Infrastructure transition

Moving from a basic switched network to an MPLS infrastructure with advanced carrier-grade services.

Service scalability

Designing the network to support exponential traffic growth and the introduction of new lines.

Complex migration

Identification and transfer of Xtratelecom’s services to the new network, optimizing process automation.

Deployment optimization

Implementation of a distributed operation model with local technicians to improve response times and reduce logistical costs.

MasMovil Challenge

Solution

To address these challenges, Satec implemented a solution based on Juniper technology, ensuring a modern, scalable network infrastructure with high levels of automation. The chosen solution focuses on enabling efficient deployment, optimizing network management, and facilitating future expansions.

Key Features of the Solution:

Enables efficient traffic segmentation and optimized service management.
